Baahubali: The Epic, SS Rajamouli’s larger-than-life fantasy drama, has finally made its OTT debut, nearly two months after returning to theatres for its 10th anniversary celebration. The remastered version of the iconic franchise is now streaming on Netflix, though with a notable limitation.
Streaming details: Language matters
Baahubali: The Epic is currently available on Netflix only in Hindi, accompanied by subtitles. Fans waiting for the original-language experience won’t have to wait too long, though. Industry reports suggest that the Telugu and Tamil versions are likely to stream on JioHotstar in the coming weeks.

What is Baahubali: The Epic?
The film is a carefully re-edited and remastered single feature that brings together:
- Baahubali: The Beginning
- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
With a runtime of 3 hours and 44 minutes, it stands among the longest mainstream theatrical cuts in modern Indian cinema. The epic follows Mahendra Baahubali’s journey as he uncovers his lineage, his connection to the Mahishmati empire, and his mission to avenge his father’s death.
Visually and sonically upgraded, the remastered version sharpens the film’s scale without altering the core narrative that made the franchise a phenomenon.
Surprise reveal during the re-release
One of the biggest talking points from the theatrical run was a mid-film announcement teaser for a two-part animated spin-off titled Baahubali: The Eternal War. The project is directed by Ishan Shukla, with the story developed by Ishan Shukla and Sowmya Sharma.
Box office comeback
The nostalgia clearly worked. During its re-release, Baahubali: The Epic reportedly collected over ₹50 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing re-released Indian film, surpassing titles such as Sanam Teri Kasam, Tumbbad, and Ghilli.
Why Baahubali still matters
Released in 2015, Baahubali: The Beginning became the first Telugu film to win the National Award for Best Feature Film. Its sequel, released in 2017, went on to rewrite box office history with a global gross of over ₹1,800 crore, firmly placing SS Rajamouli among the world’s most celebrated filmmakers.

The franchise stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia, with powerful supporting performances from Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar.
A spin-off centred on the fan-favourite character Kattappa is also reportedly in development.
What’s next for the cast and director
Rajamouli is currently busy with his next mega-budget project, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Meanwhile, Prabhas is gearing up for the release of The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, which is slated to hit theatres on January 9.
