    Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Two-Phase Polling Announced

    The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially released the full schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. This time, the state will see polling in two phases — on November 6 and November 11, followed by vote counting on November 14.

    A total of 243 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs, with 121 seats voting in the first phase and 122 seats in the second. The current Assembly’s term ends on November 22, 2025.

    In 2020, Bihar held a three-phase election, but this time, political parties pushed for shorter polls — keeping festive dates and logistical ease in mind.

    Phase-Wise Bihar Election Schedule

    Phase 1:

    • Gazette Notification: October 10, 2025
    • Last Date for Nominations: October 17, 2025
    • Scrutiny of Nominations: October 18, 2025
    • Last Date to Withdraw Candidature: October 20, 2025
    • Voting Date: November 6, 2025
    • Election Completion Deadline: November 16, 2025

    Phase 2:

    • Gazette Notification: October 13, 2025
    • Last Date for Nominations: October 20, 2025
    • Scrutiny of Nominations: October 21, 2025
    • Last Date to Withdraw Candidature: October 23, 2025
    • Voting Date: November 11, 2025
    • Election Completion Deadline: November 16, 2025

    Voting Time and Arrangements

    The polling will be held from 7 AM to 5 PM, with an extra hour for voters already in the queue.

    Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the elections will see webcasting across all 90,712 polling booths, ensuring transparency and real-time monitoring. On average, there will be 818 voters per booth, and a total of 243 observers will oversee each constituency.

    Voters will also be required to deposit their smartphones before entering the booth to maintain polling secrecy.

    Counting and Results

    The Bihar Election Results 2025 will be announced on November 14, three days after the second phase of polling.

    According to the ECI, Bihar has 7.42 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore male and 3.5 crore female voters, as per the final voter list released post the Special Intensive Revision.

    Security Measures Tightened

    In view of the large-scale elections, over 500 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are being deployed across Bihar. This includes:

    • 121 companies from the CRPF
    • Around 400 companies from the BSF, along with units from ITBP, CISF, and SSB

    Of these, 99 BSF companies have already reached Bihar, while others are in transit. Security officials have confirmed that the deployment aims to ensure peaceful polling across all sensitive and high-turnout areas.

    The upcoming Bihar Assembly election is shaping up to be a high-stakes political battle. With development, law and order, and employment dominating the voter sentiment, all eyes will be on how alliances shape up in the weeks leading to the polls.
