ChatGPT is getting its own version of Spotify Wrapped. OpenAI has begun rolling out a year-end review feature called Your Year with ChatGPT, offering users a personalised snapshot of how they used the chatbot over the past year.

The feature, first reported by TechCrunch, is currently being introduced in select markets, including India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

What is ‘Your Year with ChatGPT’?

Much like Spotify Wrapped, the new recap uses visuals, summaries and playful insights to highlight a user’s activity. It reflects how people interacted with ChatGPT—whether they leaned on it for problem-solving, brainstorming ideas, learning new topics or everyday assistance.

As part of the experience, ChatGPT also generates a short poem and a custom image that symbolises the user’s year, based on their most common themes and interests.

    Who can access the feature?

According to OpenAI, Your Year with ChatGPT is available to users on Free, Plus and Pro plans. However, users must have both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” enabled, along with meeting a minimum usage threshold.

Team, Enterprise and Education accounts are excluded from the rollout.

Designed to be optional and privacy-first

OpenAI says the feature is intentionally lightweight and fully user-controlled. While it may appear as a prompt on the home screen, it won’t open automatically or force users into viewing it.

Users can also trigger the recap manually by simply asking ChatGPT for Your Year with ChatGPT.

    Where it’s available

The year-end review works across platforms, including the ChatGPT web version and mobile apps on iOS and Android. OpenAI says the experience is meant to feel reflective rather than intrusive, keeping privacy at the centre of the design.

    Why it matters

As AI tools become part of everyday workflows, features like this show how platforms are trying to humanise usage data—making it more relatable and shareable. With visual storytelling and personalisation now common across apps, ChatGPT’s move aligns with broader trends in consumer tech engagement, including Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE), which also emphasises context-rich, user-focused summaries.
