On early Tuesday, Delhi and the bordering National Capital Region (NCR) saw significant rains, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting additional showers throughout the day. According to the meteorological authority, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms will continue over the national capital and surrounding areas.
“Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi and NCR, Muzaffarnagar, Deoband, Nazibabad, Bijnaur, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Daurala, Chandpur, Baraut, Bagpat, Meerut, Khekra, Modinagar, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sikandrabad, Jahangirabad, Bulandshahar, Shikarpur (U.P.),” the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated in its bulletin.

According to the report, “Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Farukhnagar, Sohana, Moradabad, Rewari (Haryana) Kithor, Amroha, Garhmukteshwar, Anupshahar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Bahajoi (U.P.) Bhiwari (Rajasthan) during next 2 hours.”
Meanwhile, ANI’s videos show numerous districts of the national capital saturated with rain.
Meanwhile, according to the IMD, the lowest temperature in Delhi is expected to be 13 degrees Celsius, with a high temperature of roughly 28 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the weather authority projected a mostly overcast sky with light showers and thunderstorms in a few areas of the national capital.
Notably, the rain is likely to improve air quality in Delhi and the rest of the NCR, which remained in the ‘bad’ category on Monday with an overall air quality index of 231.
The IMD forecast on Monday that, in addition to Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh will receive’very probable’ rainfall from February 19 to February 21. Along with this, isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning are’very probable’ in Punjab from February 18-21; across Rajasthan from February 19-20; and in eastern Uttar Pradesh from February 20-22.
