Strong second week keeps momentum alive

After a blockbuster opening week of ₹207.25 crore, Dhurandhar went on a tear in Week 2, collecting another ₹253.25 crore. The daily figures underline how steady the film has remained on weekdays—an indicator of strong word-of-mouth.

Here’s how the second week played out:

  • Second Friday: ₹32.5 crore
  • Second Saturday: ₹53 crore

The film added around ₹22.5 crore on Day 15, taking its total India net to approximately ₹483 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.

Can ‘Dhurandhar’ dethrone ‘Pushpa 2’?

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel believes the race is on. In a post on X, Kadel said Dhurandhar is mounting a serious challenge to Allu Arjun-led Pushpa 2, which stands tall with a ₹830 crore Hindi net lifetime.

According to Kadel, the film’s third-weekend trend could push it towards a staggering ₹90 crore-plus weekend—an extraordinary number for a film already deep into its theatrical run.

Beating Hollywood on opening day

Interestingly, Dhurandhar also outperformed James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash at the Indian box office on day one. While Avatar 3 opened at around ₹20 crore on its first Friday, Dhurandhar surged ahead, reinforcing the pull of big-scale Hindi action films with local themes.

What’s driving the success?

Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios, the film follows a high-stakes mission involving a spy infiltrating Karachi’s Lyari gangs amid a tense Pakistan police crackdown.

While Ranveer Singh anchors the film, Akshaye Khanna’s performance has drawn consistent praise. The supporting cast includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun, adding weight to the ensemble.

What’s next?

With screens holding steady and no major Hindi release immediately denting its run, Dhurandhar looks well placed to cross ₹500 crore in the coming days. Whether it can truly topple Pushpa 2 remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear—the film is already among the biggest Hindi blockbusters in recent years.

A sequel is already in the works and is slated for a theatrical release in March 2026.
