Dussehra 2025: The Festival of Good Over Evil
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is being celebrated across India today, 2 October 2025. This festival reminds us that no matter how strong evil may seem, truth and goodness will always triumph.
Every year, Ravan Dahan is performed in the evening as a symbolic act of destroying negativity. Families gather at grounds and Ramleela maidans to witness the burning effigies of Ravan, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran, followed by fireworks and celebrations.

How to Perform Dussehra Puja
On Dussehra morning, devotees wake up early, take a holy bath, and prepare for puja. Traditional rituals include:
- Making an idol from wheat or lime soil
- Preparing nine cow dung balls with barley and curd
- Offering banana, radish, jaggery, and rice to the idol
- Lighting incense and diya
- Worshipping ledgers (bahi-khata) as a symbol of wealth and prosperity
- Donating food and clothes to Brahmins
- Ending the day by seeking blessings from elders after Ravan Dahan
Dussehra Remedies for Prosperity
- For happiness & prosperity: Worship a Shami plant at home and light a ghee diya under it in the evening.
- For financial stability: Recite Sundarkand or verses from Ramcharitmanas. Many believe this helps reduce financial stress and brings peace.

Why Dussehra Matters
Dussehra is more than just fireworks and effigies. It teaches us the value of patience, courage, and righteousness. In North India, Ramleela is staged, while in Bengal and eastern states, it marks the conclusion of Durga Puja. The festival truly brings together cultural, religious, and social unity.
So whether you’re going for Ravan Dahan with friends or performing puja at home, Dussehra 2025 is a reminder to keep faith that good always wins.
