G Marimuthu, last seen in Jailer, died at the age of 57; Rajinikanth pays respect

G Marimuthu, the Tamil actor-director who was last seen in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, died at the age of 57. According to the South Indian Artists Association, Marimuthu died on Friday after suffering a heart arrest. He allegedly became ill while dubbing for a Tamil TV series and was brought to the hospital.

Marimuthu had just taken up acting and had appeared in a number of films and teleserial. Following the news of his demise, sympathies from the Tamil cinema industry flooded in for the 57-year-old actor.

Thailaiva Rajinikanth paid respect to the late actor as well. “Marimuth was a wonderful person,” he wrote on X in Tamil. His death astounded me. “Please accept my most sincere sympathies to his bereaved family.”

Prasanna, a well-known actor who appeared in both of Marimuthu’s directorial films, ‘Kannum Kannum’ and ‘Pulivaal,’ expressed his sorrow. “I am really saddened to learn about the death of director G Marimuthu. We did #Pulivaal and #KannumKannum together. We shared a brotherly relationship. We agreed to differ on a number of points. His life was far from easy. He was finally doing well as an actor. He should’ve stayed a little longer. Sad. “Rip,” Prasanna commented on a post in X.

Sun Pictures also expressed their condolences, writing, “Condolences! Your work was flawless and irreplaceable. “May you rest in peace.”

Shanthnu, an actor, expressed his sympathies to his family and expressed sadness at his passing. “Shocking to hear this Oflate been following a lot of his work RIP sir #RIPMarimuthu sir Our condolences to his family,” he said in a post.

Marimuthu’s professional life 

Marimuthu debuted as a filmmaker in 2008 with ‘Kannum Kannum.’ In addition to directing films, he performed numerous intriguing parts in Tamil cinema. In the early stages of his career, he worked with lyricist Vairamuthu. He also worked as an assistant director in Tamil films. ‘Vaali,’ ‘Jeeva,’ ‘Pariyerum Perumal,’ and ‘Jailer,’ to mention a few of his noteworthy performances.

Marimuthu has also appeared in the Tamil television series ‘Ethir Neechal’ from 2022. Marimuthu was a YouTube celebrity whose views were widely shared on social media platforms.
