Harmanpreet Kaur’s behavior has been widely condemned by fans and analysts alike.
Harmanpreet Kaur, India’s women’s cricket captain, was severely chastised following the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday.
This came after she was ruled LBW, and India went on to draw the match. Her conduct after the dismissal, however, was judged rude, with her striking her stumps with her bat and calling the umpire “pathetic” at the post-match presentation.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released a statement claiming that Kaur’s behavior had “disappointed” them.
Former India cricketer Madan Lal has voiced his displeasure with Kaur’s actions, saying that she is not larger than the game.
“Harmanpreet’s behavior towards the Bangladesh women’s team was pitiful.” She is no match for the game. She has a poor reputation in Indian cricket. The BCCI should impose severe disciplinary measures.”
In the post-match news conference, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana also criticized Kaur, saying, “It is completely her problem.” I’ve got nothing to do with it. She might have demonstrated greater etiquette as a player. I’m not sure what occurred, but I didn’t feel good being there [for the photo] with my team. It wasn’t the ideal setting. That’s why we returned. Cricket is a disciplined and respectful sport.”
