IRCTC, the Indian Railways’ online ticketing network, is now experiencing technical issues that are generating outages, causing frustration to many customers across the nation. Customers complained that the IRCTC server was unavailable during peak hours, and several complaints flooded Twitter. The problems affected both the IRCTC’s web-based booking system and its mobile app.
In reaction to the crisis, the IRCTC published a statement confirming the issue and blaming the service suspension on technical issues. Their technical team is currently working to resolve the issue, and users have been promised that they will be contacted as soon as the situation is resolved.
The IRCTC’s official website flashed a warning that said, “DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY, E-TICKETING SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE.” PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER. PLEASE CALL CUSTOMER CARE NO. 14646, 0755-6610661 & 0755-4090600 OR MAIL firstname.lastname@example.org FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR. IRCTC’s alternative for booking railway tickets.”
IRCTC also relayed this information via its official Twitter handle, underlining the technical nature of the issue, and assured consumers that their devoted staff at CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) was working hard to resolve the situation. While the IRCTC website and app were down, other B2C businesses, such as Amazon and MakeMyTrip, were offering alternate ticket purchase alternatives.
