Farmers protest in Delhi took a new turn. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), will hold a ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat’ at the Ramlila Ground in Delhi. There, a resolution to be passed to “intensify the fight” against the policies of the central government.
he Delhi Police permit allowed the farmers to hold their ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ with the condition that only 5000 people and tractor-trolleys would be allowed. Further, on the condition that there would be no march at the venue. Farmers’ unions in western Uttar Pradesh are also likely to participate in the event at Ramlila Ground.
The SKM said that more than 50,000 farmers from Punjab are expected to attend the event at Ramlila Maidan. The umbrella body of farmers’ organizations stressed about whether it would be a peaceful gathering at the Ramlila Ground. In 2020-21, SKM spearheaded the farmers’ protest against the three central agri laws at Delhi borders.
Traffic Police Advisory On Farmers Protest In Delhi
According to Delhi Traffic Police, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Swami Vivekanand Marg, Barakhamba Road, Sansad Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Minto Road, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover, Connaught Circus, Jai Singh Road, Bhavbhuti Marg, Ashoka Road, DDU Marg, and Chaman Lal Marg may be affected due to the farmers gathering in the city.
The advisory said the traffic may be diverted on Delhi Gate, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Guru Nanak Chowk, Kamla Market, Janpath Road, Paharganj Chowk, Mir Dard Chowk, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover from Barakhamba Road to Guru Nanak Chowk, Jhandewalan roundabout, Barakhamba Road, KG Marg crossing and roundabout of GPO (Gol Post Office) from 6 am on Thursday.
Further, they advised people going towards bus or railway stations, airports to go carefully and with sufficient time at hand. Also, traffic police advised people to use public transport, especially the Metro, for their journey.
