A cracking start for India! Yashasvi Jaiswal wasted no time, taking full advantage of Nandre Burger’s wayward first over. The left-arm pacer did get some late swing, but he simply couldn’t control it. Too full outside off, drifting down leg — he gave Jaiswal plenty to work with.
Interestingly, the late movement caused more trouble for Quinton de Kock than the batter. The wicketkeeper struggled to collect a couple of deliveries that swung after passing the stumps — something you rarely see in India.
This ground has hosted just one ODI before, and even that match saw surprising levels of swing. Today’s conditions seem similar, with the ball moving in the air longer than usual. If Burger doesn’t adjust quickly, India’s top order could cash in big time.
