JioHotstar is on fire—503 million monthly active users in March 2025! That’s the big headline from Reliance Industries’ latest earnings report for Q4FY25. And yep, the IPL and ICC Champions Trophy played a huge part in that success.
Streaming Dominance: JioHotstar vs the World
While Netflix and Amazon Prime kept quiet on their India MAU numbers, JioHotstar dropped a bomb with its 503M figure. For comparison, Netflix’s global ad-supported tier had just 70 million MAUs in late 2024. Meta’s Threads app had 320M MAUs, and even Facebook’s 3B users look impressive—but JioHotstar’s growth is eye-catching in the Indian market.
And it’s not just eyeballs. JioHotstar pulled in ₹9,497 crore in revenue in its first five months. EBITDA stood at ₹266 crore, with a solid ₹229 crore in profit after tax. Oh, and let’s not forget—61 million people watched live content at the same time. Massive.
“We’re Profitable & Growing”—Kevin Vaz, CEO of JioHotstar
During the earnings call, CEO Kevin Vaz credited strong performance to IPL and ICC matches. “We’ve kept a close eye on costs,” he said. And it’s paying off—especially when TV ad revenue across the board is slumping.

5G Growth: Jio Keeps the Data Flowing
On the telecom side, Reliance Jio is killing it in the 5G space. A whopping 45% of all wireless data on Jio’s network is now 5G. Download speeds? An impressive 224 Mbps.
Jio’s fixed wireless access solution, JioAirFiber, is making waves too. It’s the world’s first multipoint setup for fixed broadband, and the cost savings are helping expand home internet like crazy. As of March 2025, JioAirFiber has 5.6M subscribers, up 87.5% YoY.
In total, Jio’s home broadband base (wireless + wireline) now stands at 18 million.
ARPU Battle: Jio vs Other Telcos
Jio’s ARPU hit ₹206.2 in March 2025—a 13.48% jump from last year. Some analysts pointed out this was lower than the 15% ARPU hike other telcos posted. But Jio’s head of strategy Anshuman Thakur said it’s a reporting difference. “If you compare apples to apples, we’re actually ahead—despite lower tariffs,” he added.
He also noted that some users prepaid annual plans before the tariff hike in July 2024, so the full impact will show in the coming quarters.
Retail Growth: Ajio, Shein & JioMart
Reliance Retail isn’t sitting still either. Ajio added 1.9 million users in Q4FY25 and rolled out same-day/next-day delivery in 26 cities, which helped slash return rates.
Oh, and remember Shein? It’s back in India thanks to Reliance. With 12,000 products already live, its soft launch was a hit—landing in the top 10 most downloaded apps within days.
JioMart is also booming, with a 62% jump in daily orders YoY. Their under-30-minute delivery model is now live in 4,000+ pin codes, thanks to 2,000+ connected stores. Daily exit orders are up 4.2x, showing just how fast JioMart is scaling
