In Madhya Pradesh Mahakal Mandir fire erupted out on Monday, injuring at least 14 priests.
The fire broke out during the bhasma aarti within the temple’s sanctum sanctorum on the festival of Holi. As gulal was flung to celebrate Holi, some of it landed on the puja thali, which held burning camphor. Eyewitnesses reported the camphor dropped on the floor, causing the fire to spread.
According to an official, CCTV cameras installed at the temple captured footage of the incident.
“Fourteen priests sustained burn injuries. Some are receiving treatment at the local hospital here, while eight have sought care in Indore. He stated that he ordered a magisterial investigation. Mrinal Meena, CEO of Zila Panchayat, and Anukool Jain, Additional Collector, will undertake the investigation, and they will produce a report within three days.
A large crowd, including some VVIPs, gathered at the temple, but no devotees were hurt, he stated. They took the injured, including temple staff and Sanjay Guru’s head priest, to the nearest hospital.
