Delhi News: The Enforcement Directorate detained Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, March 21. This was due to his involvement in the Delhi liquor excise policy scheme.

The Delhi High Court refused to allow the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader any interim relief from coercive action. Kejriwal has reportedly been jailed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi, along with some other party workers, were held by police at ITO in Delhi. The reason they were protesting the detention of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“We will argue before the Supreme Court that Arvind Kejriwal should be permitted to meet with his legal counsel and family for permission to conduct official business. “Kejriwal’s family has been placed under house arrest,” Bharadwaj told reporters.

What Union Minister said on Kejriwal arrest?

In response to Kejriwal’s arrest, Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated, “They are saying that Arvind Kejriwal will run the government from jail.” This insults Delhi’s people, the rule of law, and democracy.”

“It is sad that a political party that has spoken out against Congress corruption and demanded Sonia Gandhi’s arrest has refused to appear before the ED despite receiving nine summonses. Why did you have to stay away from the investigation… “All of them are implicated in this liquor scam,” he said, as reported by ANI.

Heavy security has been placed near the BJP headquarters on Delhi’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. Also, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been implemented in the region. AAP cadres have assembled in protest of Kejriwal’s imprisonment.

“This is to advise you that Section 144 has been implemented here at ITO. We request that the protestors leave the area immediately; else, we will have to use force,” a police officer remarked.
