Mahindra has dropped a new teaser for the upcoming XEV 9S, and it gives us the clearest look yet at the company’s first all-electric three-row SUV. Set to launch on November 27, the model brings many cues from the XUV.e8 concept while introducing a distinct identity of its own.
New Exterior Highlights
The teaser confirms a stacked headlamp setup, replacing the familiar lighting design seen on the ICE-powered XUV700. It also showcases boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, the updated Twin Peaks logo, and a shark-fin antenna, along with glimpses of the connected tail-lamp section.

Interestingly, while Mahindra is revealing plenty about the front and side profile, the SUV’s rear stance looks surprisingly close to the XUV700, hinting at shared proportions despite the EV-first construction.
Cabin: Screens, Tech & a Missing Piece
Inside, Mahindra continues to highlight its new-age digital experience. The teaser again shows the brand’s signature wide triple-screen dashboard, similar to what we’ve already seen on the XEV 9e and BE 6.
But here’s the catch—Mahindra isn’t showing the third row yet. And that’s a smart move because packaging a proper third row in an EV without compromising comfort is tricky. The SUV uses the INGLO platform, which is modular, so expectations remain high. We’ll likely have to wait until launch day to see what Mahindra has accomplished.
Dimensions & Purpose
Compared to the sleeker BE 6, the XEV 9S appears taller, boxier, and more upright—exactly what you’d want in a family-focused three-row EV. This will be Mahindra’s third born-electric SUV, after the XEV 9e and BE 6.
Expected Range & Performance
Since all three models share the same architecture, the XEV 9S is expected to feature similar battery packs and motor specs. Some variation is possible due to the added weight of a larger body and a third row, but real-world driving range is still expected to cross 500 km on a single charge.
Loaded with Features
The features list should include everything we’ve seen on Mahindra’s recent EVs and more:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered & ventilated seats (with massage + memory)
- Large triple-screen display setup
- Connected tech, EV-specific drive modes

Safety & ADAS
Safety will be a major highlight. The XEV 9e and BE 6 already carry 5-star safety ratings, so the XEV 9S is expected to follow suit. It will also pack Level 2 ADAS, including:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Autonomous emergency braking
- Lane keep assist
- Lane departure warning
- Blind spot detection
With the official debut just days away, Mahindra is clearly setting the stage for one of the most important EV launches of the year.
