MCU is ringing in the new year with its latest action miniseries, Echo. The five-episode action-adventure series premieres today on Disney+. It is based on the Marvel comic of the same name and was developed by Marion Dayre, an American producer and TV writer. Here’s what you should know before viewing Echo:
Why was Echo delayed?
Echo was originally slated to be published on November 29 of last year. However, due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, showrunners were forced to postpone the release date by many months. The long-awaited Marvel series is now available on Disney+ today (January 9).
The Cast and Crew of Echo
The latest Marvel series, Echo, is directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. It stars Alaqua Cox, Tantoo Cardinal, Chaske Spencer, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, and Zahn McClarnon.

What is Echo about?
According to The Direct, the official description for Echo is as follows: “Marvel Studios presents ‘Echo’ in which Maya Lopez attempts to reconnect with her Native American heritage while balancing goals related to a life of crime as the cruel heir to Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The first episode introduces us to Maya Lopez and her troubles.
The official Marvel website presents Echo as “Streaming exclusively on Disney, the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless actions in New York City catches up with her in her hometown.” She must confront her history, reconnect with her Native American heritage, and accept the importance of family and community if she is to go ahead.”
