OnePlus fans have had a slightly confusing month. The company broke its usual routine by launching the OnePlus 15 earlier than expected—skipping its traditional January window entirely. But what really caught everyone off guard was the absence of the OnePlus 15R, a model that typically launches alongside the flagship as the brand’s premium mid-range option.
Now, the company has quietly confirmed that the OnePlus 15R is coming, and it’s expected to make its India debut in December. While official details remain under wraps, almost everything about the phone is already hinted at through its China counterpart—the OnePlus Ace 6.

What To Expect From The OnePlus 15R
A Big, Smooth Display
If the Indian variant mirrors the Ace 6, the OnePlus 15R could ship with a 6.83-inch LTPS AMOLED display featuring a crisp 1.5K resolution and a super-fast 165Hz refresh rate. This puts it among the smoothest screens in its segment—great for gaming, scrolling, and overall day-to-day use.
Durability Ratings: Same As The Flagship?
The Ace 6 carries multiple durability and dust/water protection ratings—IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. These match the flagship OnePlus 15. It’s unclear if OnePlus will bring the full set to the 15R, but even partial support would be a major upgrade over its predecessor.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Likely Under The Hood
OnePlus has a pattern with its R-series phones: they typically use last year’s flagship processor. This time, that means the Snapdragon 8 Elite—a powerful chipset that’s already powering the Ace 6.
If this holds true, the 15R should offer a noticeable performance jump in gaming, multitasking, thermal management, and battery efficiency.
The phone is also expected to run OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, and like the new flagship, it may ditch the iconic alert slider for the new Plus Key—something that has already divided fans.
Cameras: Same Setup As Ace 6?
The camera configuration of the Ace 6 gives a solid preview of what to expect:
- 50MP main camera with OIS
- 8MP ultra-wide lens
- 16MP selfie camera
The 13R didn’t get Hasselblad tuning, so all eyes are on whether the 15R will finally integrate the brand’s new DetailMax Engine for improved imaging.
A Huge 7,800mAh Battery With 120W Charging
This could be the biggest selling point.
Leaks point to a 7,800mAh battery—one of the largest in any OnePlus phone to date—paired with 120W fast charging.
As usual, wireless charging is unlikely since OnePlus generally keeps it off the R-series.

Expected Price In India
The Ace 6 starts at 2,599 yuan (approx. ₹32,000) in China. Considering OnePlus increased the flagship’s pricing this year, the 15R is also expected to go slightly higher. Current estimates put the India price around ₹45,000, up from the 13R’s ₹42,999.
For a phone with a huge battery, flagship-grade chipset, and a high-refresh-rate display, this pricing would still keep it competitive in the upper mid-range segment.
A Big December Launch Incoming
With December right around the corner, the OnePlus 15R is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about mid-range smartphones of the season. If the India variant actually mirrors the Ace 6, OnePlus could have a major hit lined up—especially for users who want flagship-level power at a slightly more affordable price.
