The West Indies suffered their first loss in the current multi-format series in the second ODI against India. After beating the West Indies in the first ODI, Team India rested important players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and the West Indies took advantage.

After Ishan Kishan’s tenacious half-century in the top order, none of the other batsmen could contribute much, and the visitors were bowled out for 181 runs in the first innings. When it came time to chase the target, Shai Hope and Keacy Carty’s outstanding innings enabled the team to bring it down and win by six wickets.

Talking points from the second One-Day International between the West Indies and India: Ishan Kishan’s sustained form:

Ishan Kishan, an Indian wicketkeeper, has made quite a reputation for himself. After earning his Test debut lately, the 25-year-old has been performing admirably in one-day internationals ahead of the World Cup. Kishan scored 52 runs in 46 deliveries in the first ODI and backed it up with another half-century in the second ODI, hitting 55 runs in the same number of deliveries. With the World Cup just around the corner, his performance may be crucial.

Shai Hope’s fortitude

Following a dismal performance in the first ODI, the West Indies showed perseverance and commitment in the second game. After restricting India to a low score in the first innings, the hosts put up an excellent batting display to win the second game, with skipper Shai Hope playing a key role. After the top order failed to deliver during the run chase, Hope stepped up to the plate. Hope’s 63* run knock in 80 deliveries helped the Windies win the second ODI.
