Red Fort Blast: Intel Traces Umar’s ₹20 Lakh Hawala Funding and Haryana Hideout

A major breakthrough has emerged in the Red Fort blast investigation, with intelligence teams now tracking a money trail worth Rs 20 lakh allegedly routed through a hawala network to key conspirators — including suicide bomber Dr Umar Nabi. The deadly car explosion earlier this week claimed 12 lives and left several others injured, sending shockwaves across Delhi and triggering a massive nationwide probe.

Authorities have since identified Umar as a doctor associated with Al-Falah University. He is suspected to have worked with other “white-collar” operatives to carry out the terror attack.

₹20 Lakh Fund Route Under Scanner

Investigators believe the money was linked to three individuals — Umar, Muzammil, and Shaheen — all reportedly medical professionals. According to ANI sources, the funds are suspected to have been moved from a Jaish-e-Mohammed handler using hawala channels. Agencies are now working to pin down the exact flow of funds and verify whether more recipients were involved in the operation.

Man Seen Following Umar Into Mosque Detained

A key lead emerged from CCTV surveillance across Central Delhi. As per an Indian Express report, Umar visited Faiz-e-Ilahi Masjid shortly before the blast. Footage shows him walking towards the mosque and repeatedly turning back, appearing anxious.

Another man, dressed in blue, was seen following him inside. Delhi Police’s Special Cell detained the individual, and he is currently being questioned jointly by intelligence units.

“We cannot confirm their relationship yet, but nothing is being ruled out,” a senior official told the publication.

More than 50 CCTV cameras were reviewed to track Umar’s movements in the final hour before the explosion.

Possible Hideout in Nuh, Haryana

Fresh intel suggests Umar stayed in Nuh district of Haryana until a day before the attack. A Hindustan Times report adds that he regularly swapped mobile phones and used multiple numbers to stay under the radar. Investigators are now tracing shop owners and locals who may have interacted with him.

Explosives Had Ammonium Nitrate, TATP: Forensic Team

Initial forensic findings point to a deadly mix of 30–40 kg of ammonium nitrate and the highly explosive compound TATP (triacetone triperoxide) inside the vehicle.

Both chemicals are known to be used in high-impact terror operations and are strictly regulated. Officials are probing whether this blast links back to the earlier Faridabad terror module, where 358 kg of ammonium nitrate was seized this month.

Ammonium nitrate was reportedly bought from markets in Sohna, Gurgaon, and Nuh — largely paid for in cash, according to NDTV sources.

What Investigators Are Now Looking For

Authorities are currently focused on:

The hawala operators behind the ₹20 lakh fund transfer
Umar’s communication trail and mobile device data
Links to Faridabad module and cross-border handlers
Verification of other “white-collar” collaborators
Chemical supply chain and store owners who sold the fertiliser

Sources suggest multiple arrests could take place in the coming days as agencies widen their network-mapping efforts.

A Chilling Reminder for Delhi

The Red Fort is one of India’s highest-security heritage zones and has seen attacks in the past. The latest blast has raised fresh concerns over evolving terror techniques, especially the involvement of educated professionals and easily sourced chemicals.

Security has been tightened around key installations across the capital, and additional advisory measures may be announced soon.
