    Uniform Civil Code: The Law Commission is seeking input from the public and recognized religious organizations.

    On Wednesday, the Law Commission of India solicited comments and ideas on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) from the general public, recognized religious organizations, and other stakeholders.

    The 22nd Law Commission issued a public notice about the matter on its website.

    Views and recommendations must be sent to the Law Commission within 30 days using the URL provided in the notice or by email to membersecretary-lci@gov.in.

    “The 22nd Law Commission of India chose to solicit views and ideas on the Uniform Civil Code from the general public and recognized religious organizations once more.” “Those who are interested and willing may present their views to the Law Commission of India within 30 days of the date of notice through the “click here” button or by email at membersecretary-lci@gov.in,” read the notice.

    Uniform Civil Code

    The notification stated that after the Ministry of Law and Justice’s reference dated June 17, 2016, the 22nd Law Commission of India has begun investigating the issue of the Uniform Civil Code.

    Initially, the 21st Law Commission of India studied the issue of the Uniform Civil Code and collected the views of all stakeholders through an appeal accompanied by a questionnaire dated 07.10.2016, as well as additional public notices/appeals dated 19.03.2018, 27.03.2018, and 10.4.2018. The Commission has received a flood of replies in response to the same. The 21st Law Commission released a consultation paper on “Reforms of Family Law” on August 31, 2018, according to the announcement.

    The 22nd Law Commission of India considered it necessary to reexamine the subject through fresh deliberations due to the passage of more than three years since the Consultation Paper was published, considering the significance and relevance of the topic at hand, as well as the various courts orders related to it, according to the notice.
