While visiting her birthplace of Delhi for her brother’s engagement, actress Saloni Batra takes us down memory lane. While posing exclusively for HT City, she takes a trip around the city’s golden culinary places. She enjoys numerous delights from her student days, like DePaul’s coffee and the gulab jamun from a Bengali restaurant.
‘Vibe hai, vibe hai!’
It is enjoyable to go about the city and taste different excellent cuisines, especially during the winter. Maine bahut time se yeh kiya nahi tha, and mai apni family ko bhi bolrahi thi, therefore I want to take some time off and experience new things. As an actor, you are on a nutrition kick, therefore it is tough to consume as much. This project provides an excellent opportunity for me to attempt some of my favourite things. I guess I’m enjoying the cuisine even more because it’s a Sunday morning in the winter.

Dilli ka ‘jannat’ food
Chole Bhature and Rajma Chawal are my favorite dishes in Delhi. When it comes to sweets, gulab jamun is a must-have. I’m a real Punjabi Delhi girl. Mere lie Dilli ke khaane jannat hai. These two items, regardless of where they come from, are tasty. There isn’t such thing as terrible cuisine here.
‘Sarojini Nagar se shopping’
Bahut bunk maare hain school me nikal nikal ki. We used to visit Vasant Vihar – Priya’s Market, Saket Market, Janpath, and Sarojini Nagar. In fact, every Sunday, I used to go there (Sarojini) with my companion to see what the upcoming week would bring. We used to eat momos there and purchase tons of clothing for the week.
What aspects of Delhi do you miss now that you live in Mumbai?
I miss my family first and foremost. Being with them is the most soothing thing to me. I miss my puppy a lot. You must be on a diet here; aaspaas acha khaana nahi milta. My mother lavishes me with food as soon as I arrive in Delhi. I adore Bombay for one reason: the liberty it provides women. I miss the inexpensive shopping sprees in Bombay; you don’t get them here. I adore Delhi and miss everything about it. It’s a gorgeous city with great cuisine, nightlife, infrastructure, and more. I come here once every three to four months.
On playing Reet in Animal
After playing Reet, Ranbir Kapoor’s elder sister, in the smash film Animal, she has had a pleasant time. “People now recognise me as an established actor as a result of my role in Animal. The film has been a commercial success and has toured extensively, which is really benefiting my career. When you have such large projects, the market value falls. A lot of love is coming from everywhere. People will be watching more of my work, which is fantastic for me. Mera aur kaam ab OTT par aane wala hai,” Batra explains.
