ChatGPT makes a function available to everyone

The feature we’ve been discussing is leveraging voice chat to communicate with ChatGPT. Previously, this was only available to those who paid to use ChatGPT. However, it is now free for all users. Notably, audio chat is only available to subscribers of the ChatGPT smartphone app. The web version still does not offer voice chat to all users.

To use the function, open the ChatGPT mobile app and look for the headphone symbol on the right, near to the prompt box. When you first click on this button, a pop-up window will appear that describes the Chat with voice feature. Now, pick a voice from the drop-down menu that appears. This allows you to alter how ChatGPT sounds when conversing with you. After that, you’ll be able to use your voice to engage with ChatGPT.

The OpenAI team mocks the demo video.

OpenAI announced the functionality with a sample video on X. The crew can be heard humorously noting in the video that it has been “a long night” for them, referring to everything that has transpired at the firm since Altman’s abrupt departure. The demo movie then shows how many individuals are employed at OpenAI-778.

Greg Brockman, who departed his employment after Altman’s departure, shared the video on X and commented, “ChatGPT Voice rolled out for all free users.” Give it a go; it really transforms the ChatGPT experience.”

OpenAI vs. Sam Altman

The OpenAI board unexpectedly ousted Sam Altman, and the firm has been in disarray ever since then. According to recent reports, more than 95% of the company’s employees have vowed to leave if Altman is not reinstated by the board. Satya Nadella, on the other side, stated that Altman, along with other sacked OpenAI staffers, will join Microsoft to manage a new AI division.

In addition, OpenAI’s principal scientist and cofounder Ilya Sutskever had a significant influence in Altman’s departure. He expressed “deep regret” for his role in the decision in a tweet, writing, “I deeply regret my participation in the board’s actions.” I had no intention of causing harm to OpenAI. I adore everything we’ve created together, and I will do everything in my power to bring the firm back together.”

In the meanwhile, OpenAI announced Sam Altman’s departure in a blog post. According to the blog post, the board has lost faith in Altman’s capacity to run the firm because he has been “inconsistent in his communications with the board, restricting its ability to exercise its responsibilities.”
