Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Gets Big Updates
Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to make waves in the 160cc segment again. The new Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition has started reaching dealerships across India, giving us an early look before its official launch. This version isn’t just about fresh paint—it packs real upgrades that could shake things up for its rivals.
What’s New in the Combat Edition
The most noticeable update is the new LED headlamp, which looks strikingly similar to the one on the bigger Xtreme 250R. It gives the bike a sharper and more premium face. Along with that, the negative LCD instrument cluster seems to be borrowed from the 250R as well, maintaining consistency across Hero’s streetfighter lineup.

But the real head-turners are the new features:
- Cruise Control — a first for this segment.
- Ride-by-Wire Throttle for smoother power delivery.
- Three Ride Modes, offering better control and adaptability.
These features can be accessed through redesigned switchgear on both sides of the handlebar, adding a modern touch to the cockpit.
Engine and Hardware Stay Familiar
Mechanically, the Combat Edition remains the same as the standard model. It continues to use the 163.2cc, air/oil-cooled, four-valve engine that delivers 16.6 bhp and 14.6 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels, equipped with KYB-sourced USD forks and a rear monoshock for solid handling. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS ensuring better safety.
Expected Pricing and Launch Timeline
While Hero hasn’t officially revealed the price yet, expect the Combat Edition to cost a bit more than the standard Xtreme 160R 4V, which currently retails at ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Given its new tech and styling updates, the extra price seems well justified.
Dealerships have already started receiving units, hinting that an official launch announcement is right around the corner.

Why It Matters
With these updates, Hero MotoCorp is clearly aiming to position the Xtreme 160R 4V closer to premium 160cc rivals like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160. The addition of features like cruise control and ride modes makes it one of the most feature-loaded motorcycles in its class—something enthusiasts have long been waiting for from Hero.
