On Friday, Hamas freed two Americans among the 200 captives it took during the October 7 terror strikes in Israel. US Vice President Joe Biden has requested Israel’s Defence Forces to postpone a ground invasion until more hostages are freed. Meanwhile, the IDF targeted a Hezbollah position run by a terrorist cell. A target flying from Lebanon into Israeli airspace was also stopped before it entered the country. According to the IDF’s two-week battle summary, Hamas has fired 6,900 rockets, killing over 1,400 people and injuring 4,600 more.
At a campaign fundraiser, US Vice President Joe Biden stated that the fact that Biden “was about to sit down with the Saudis” was one of the reasons for Hamas’ attack on Israel.
“Guess what the Saudis wanted to recognize Israel,” Biden stated, detailing the US offer to mediate a normalization arrangement between Israel and Saudi Arabia. This agreement was put on hold when the Islamist organization Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel on October 7, according to the Times of Israel.
US authorities have stated that Hamas’ motivation may have been to disrupt the normalization process, but Biden’s statements appear to establish a direct link between the attack and the pact.
