A police officer reported that four terrorists were killed in a “chance encounter” with security forces here on Wednesday morning.
Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, said the gunfight took place near Tawi Bridge in the Sidhra bypass area along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway around 7.30am.

During the gun battle, the ADGP told reporters that a suspicious truck was observed moving to Kashmir. It was followed and stopped near the Sidhra check point but its driver escaped on the pretext of attending to nature’s call.
After becoming suspicious, Singh said, police searched the truck but were heavily attacked from inside.

During the encounter, the truck caught fire, he said, and four terrorists were killed.
After the truck is searched, the clear picture will emerge, according to the ADGP, adding that it is part of the investigation into how the terrorists got in.
He said the ultras were heavily armed and were on their way to Kashmir when they were intercepted. He said efforts are being made to capture the truck’s driver.

Assuring the identity and affiliation of the terrorists is being conducted, the ADGP said.
According to officials, the intense firing between the two sides lasted over 45 minutes, during which several explosions apparently caused by grenades were heard.
During the gunfight, smoke billowed from the truck loaded with husk that had been damaged.
