Although there is no information on the Android app’s rollout plan, there are alternatives available. A similar feature is available in the YouTube app for Android. Clicking on the Voice Search option in the YouTube app allows users to switch between Voice and Song search from the top of the screen. In addition, Google Voice Search allows you to search for a song by humming or singing.

Steps by Step Guide to Use YouTube Humming Feature

YouTube is testing a new search feature that allows users to identify songs by humming, singing, or recording. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the new humming feature:-

    • Step 1: Open the YouTube app.
    • Step 2: Tap on the Search icon on top right corner of the screen.
    • Step 3: Next to the search bar, tap on the microphone icon to activate the hum-to-search feature.
    • Step 4: Allow YouTube to access your microphone for this function.
    • Step 5: Hum, sing, or whistle the tune of the song you’re trying to identify.
    • Step 6: YouTube will use this audio to search for the song and present a list of results.
    • Step 7: If the result is correct, tap on it to access the song. If not, try again.

Alternatively, Android smartphone users can use Google Assistant to recognize a song by playing, singing, or humming. Google has integrated a Now Playing feature into Pixel phones that, when enabled, automatically identifies and displays the song currently playing on the device’s lock screen. Earlier, it was reported that Google is working to improve the podcast listening experience on YouTube Music. The music streaming service will most likely add a new “Trim Silence” feature that will automatically detect and skip pauses in podcasts. This feature is already available on Google Podcasts and is expected to roll out shortly on the YouTube Music app as well.
