The NIA has detained the Rameshwaram cafe blast accused, according to TV reports. The guy, Shabbir, captured in Ballari, Karnataka.
The suspect, Syed Shabbir, reportedly met the chief accused at the Bellary bus stand on March 1, the day of the blast. Police officials says ANI “He’s still being questioned in the case. It is unclear whether he is the same man seen on CCTV”.
The latest development comes after state home minister G Paramaeshwara stated that the inquiry is moving closer to identifying the key suspect in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast.
On March 6, the NIA arrested four people with noticeable links to ISIS.
NIA Efforts To Catch Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Accused
A few days ago, the NIA published additional photographs of the lead accused walking with a mask on. This time, he was shown in a different outfit without a cap, but the mask remained on. NIA adds he is thought to have gotten off the bus route to Tumkur. Further, a cash reward of Rs 10,000 was announced for any information about the main culprit.
The main accused, presently on the run, reportedly took two intra-state government buses to Bellary. According to the Indian Express, he boarded another bus to an unspecified destination.
On March 1, a low-intensity blast happened at the eatery’s Brookfield location, injuring people and cafe workers. The case was given over to the NIA on March 3. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police has supported the central agency in its investigation.
