Putin applauds Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, emphasizes the necessity of adopting domestically produced goods, and expresses support for India.-The Economic Corridor Middle East-Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative. He emphasized the necessity of adopting domestically produced goods and cited India’s actions under Prime Minister Modi as a beneficial example.
“You know, we didn’t have domestically made cars then, but we do now,” Putin stated at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). True, they appear more modest than Mercedes or Audi vehicles, which we purchased in large numbers in the 1990s, but this is not a concern. I believe we should follow in the footsteps of many of our allies, such as India. They are mostly concerned with the production and usage of Indian-made cars. I believe Prime Minister Modi is doing the right thing by pushing the Make in India initiative. He is correct.”
He stated that using Russian-made autos is perfectly acceptable.
“We have [Russian-made] automobiles which we must use; this is perfectly fine.” As a consequence, there will be no breaches of our WTO obligations. It will be about state acquisitions. According to a transcript of the plenary session released on the Kremlin’s website, Putin stated in Vladivostok, “We must create a certain chain regarding what cars various categories of officials can drive so that they will use domestically-made cars.”
“You’re probably aware of the proposals to keep buying these cars,” he added. “Because the logistics are streamlined, it would be simple.”
The Russian president also stated that the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) will assist Russia rather than harm it.
His statements came after India, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi on Saturday to construct the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Putin stated during the event, “I believe that this will only benefit us.” This, I feel, will only help us enhance logistics. For starters, this idea has been discussed for some years.”
