The G20 Leaders’ Summit closed with tremendous excitement in Delhi on Sunday, under India’s leadership, and the US termed it a ‘total success.’

“We absolutely believe it was a success,” US State Department official spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters at a routine news conference on Monday. The G20 is a massive organization. Russia is a member of the Group of 20. China is a member of the Group of 20.

The spokeswoman reacted to a media question about the success of the G20 Summit.

When questioned why Russia was not included in the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, he stated, “There are members who have a diverse range of views.” We believe that the organization’s ability to issue a statement calling for the respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty and stating that those principles should not be violated is an extremely important statement because that is exactly what Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is about.”

“It is those very questions, so we thought that was an extremely significant statement for them to make,” Miller continued.

The “use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible,” G20 nations warned in a New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration on Saturday, referring to the Ukraine conflict.

Without mentioning Russia, the G20 member countries stated the Bali declaration and emphasized that all states must act in accordance with the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter in their entirety, calling for a “comprehensive, just, and durable peace in Ukraine” and reminding member states to “refrain from the threat or use of force to seek a territorial acquisition.”

“With regard to the war in Ukraine, we reiterated our national positions and resolutions embraced at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, and emphasized that all States must act in accordance with the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter in its entirety.” According to the UN Charter, all governments shall refrain from threatening or using force to pursue territorial acquisition against any state’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, or political independence. The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is prohibited,” according to the joint declaration.

The New Delhi Declaration underlined that the G20 is the preeminent forum for international economic cooperation, and member nations agreed that the G20 is not a venue for geopolitical and security matters, despite the fact that these issues can have global economic ramifications.

The G20 members urged all governments to preserve international law norms such as territorial integrity and sovereignty, international humanitarian law, and the multilateral structure that protects peace and stability.

“Peaceful conflict resolution, crisis management, diplomacy, and dialogue are all essential.” “We will work together to address the negative impact of the war on the global economy, and we will welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives that support a comprehensive, just, and long-term peace in Ukraine that will uphold all the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter for the development of peaceful, friendly, and positive neighborly relations among nations in the spirit of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future,'” the New Delhi Declaration stated.
