The defending champions, England, are in the same group as their Ashes rivals, Australia, and will meet on June 8 in Barbados.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the schedule on Friday, six months before the expanded 20-team competition begins on June 29 in Barbados, with joint co-hosts the West Indies hosting the final.

In a 55-match event, the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Super Eight round.

“The T20 World Cup 2024 marks an exciting expansion of our sport, with more teams than ever before set to compete in this event,” stated ICC CEO Geoff Allardice.

“It’s going to be a fantastic spectacle bringing together teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia, East-Asia Pacific and Europe.”

Florida completes the three US venues for group stage matches, however the tournament will then be held entirely in the Caribbean.

The schedule for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, the one-day international comparable ICC event, was only revealed four months before the competition, leaving supporters irritated by the short period for making trip plans.

Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Graves called Friday’s announcement a “significant milestone” in the organization’s preparations.

“We know that teams, fans and cricket lovers worldwide have been eagerly awaiting this announcement,” Graves said in a statement.

“Now that it is available, it offers a roadmap for the thrilling journey that lies ahead.”

India were beaten finalists on home soil in the recent 50-over World Cup, with Australia winning by six wickets in Ahmedabad. They were also unable to qualify for the 2021 T20 World Cup after placing slightly outside the top four in their Super 12 group.
