Tata Motors is all set to launch the updated 2026 Tiago range in India tomorrow, and this time the hatchback is getting a much bigger refresh than expected. The company will introduce the facelifted Tiago in petrol, CNG and electric versions together during a single launch event on May 28.
From a redesigned front look and upgraded cabin tech to possible battery upgrades on the EV, the new Tiago lineup looks ready to take on rivals with a more premium and feature-packed package. And honestly, for buyers looking for an affordable city car, this update feels pretty significant.

Sharper Exterior Design Across The Range
The biggest visual changes can be seen at the front. The petrol and CNG versions of the 2026 Tiago now get redesigned LED headlamps with a fresh lighting signature, along with a revised grille and updated bumper setup.
The EV version, however, follows a different styling route. Instead of the traditional grille, the Tiago EV facelift gets a cleaner closed-off fascia finished in body colour. It also gets a smaller air intake section with vertical slats, giving it a more modern EV-like appearance.
Around the sides, Tata has added new dual-tone alloy wheel designs and wheel arch cladding for a sportier stance. At the rear, revised LED tail lamps and redesigned bumpers help freshen up the hatchback’s overall look.
Cabin Gets A Major Tech Upgrade
Step inside and the changes become even more noticeable. The dashboard layout has been reworked with a new landscape-style floating infotainment screen taking centre stage.
The updated Tiago also gets:
- Digital instrument cluster
- Two-spoke multifunction steering wheel
- Wireless charging pad
- Engine start/stop button
- Type-C fast charging ports
- Rear AC vents
The interior theme now uses dual-tone grey and black upholstery, making the cabin feel a little more premium than before.
Tiago CNG May Become The Most Interesting Variant
One of the most surprising additions comes to the CNG model. Tata is expected to offer paddle shifters on the Tiago CNG AMT, which could make it the first car in its segment to get this feature.
The company is also replacing the traditional gear lever with a rotary gear selector on the automatic CNG variant, similar to what’s already seen on newer Tata models.
A 360-degree camera is also likely to be part of the package, adding another premium touch in an otherwise budget-focused hatchback segment.

Bigger Battery Expected For Tiago EV
The electric version could see some important mechanical changes too.
Sources suggest the current 19 kWh battery pack may be discontinued, with the 24 kWh battery becoming the new entry-level option. Tata may also introduce a larger 30 kWh battery pack at the top end for improved driving range.
The Tiago EV facelift is also expected to borrow the newer i-Drive motor from the Punch EV lineup, which could improve overall performance and efficiency.
If these updates arrive officially tomorrow, the Tiago EV could become an even stronger option for buyers looking at affordable electric hatchbacks in India.
Engine Options To Continue
Mechanically, the standard Tiago is expected to continue with the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque.
Transmission choices will likely include:
- 5-speed manual
- 5-speed AMT
The factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG version is also expected to continue with 75.5 hp and 96.5 Nm output figures.
Expected Price In India
The facelifted petrol Tiago is expected to start at around Rs 5.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the updated Tiago EV could begin at roughly Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
With new features, updated styling and EV improvements, Tata seems to be positioning the Tiago range as a more value-packed offering for 2026.
