Around 10:00 p.m. on April 2, the incident happened in Executive Express Coach D1 traveling between Alappuzha and Kannur. During an argument, a man allegedly poured petrol on one of his fellow passengers and lit them both on fire. When extinguishing the fire, the other passengers sustained burn injuries.
Injured people are recognized and sent to the hospital
The injured one also includes three women. They are identified as Prince from Trissur, Ruby from Kannur, and Anil Kumar from Thalasseri, along with his wife Sajisha and kid Advait. It was informed that a man poured petrol and set his one of the co-passengers on fire during an argument. The other passengers ended up having burn injuries while dousing the fire. Three women are also included in the injured one. Aman among one the injured passengers kept looking for a woman and child. One of the passengers told the media at Kannuar that they found footwear and a mobile phone for that woman.
Railway tracts inspection by police
Railway tracts were inspected by police in which they found three bodies including a woman, a child, and a mid-aged man. police suspected that they fell off the train in panic or while de-boarding from the train over Korappuzha bridge near Elathur railway station after seeing fire. According to the sources cops consider the incident as a pre-planned attack and it was found that the suspected man belongs to Uttar Pradesh.
Police opinion on the case
Beena Philip, the mayor of Kozhikode, stated that the culprit had allegedly tried to light a female traveler on fire, according to police sources. The train was stopped at Elathur, and the event was reported to the railway officials. Police informed that all the right injured passengers have been shifted to the hospital including Kozhikode Medical college for treatment.CCTV visuals have been examined of nearby places and recovered the visuals of the suspect.
