The defending champions, the Indian men’s kabaddi team, will compete in the competition. In the 2017 final, India defeated Pakistan 36-22.

India has been the most successful men’s team in the Asian Kabaddi Championship since its start in 1980, winning seven titles in eight seasons. Iran won the 2003 event, which was held in Kangar, Malaysia.

India has selected a 12-man kabaddi team for the Busan meeting, that includes some of the best players from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

Arjun Deshwal, the top raider in the last PKL season, will lead the Indian offensive with seasoned raiders like Naveen Kumar and Pawan Sehrawat. The participation of Sunil Kumar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Surjeet Singh, and Nitesh Kumar would strengthen India’s defenses.

Meanwhile, Iran’s kabaddi team will be missing renowned defender Fazel Atrachali.

The Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 is scheduled to serve as a warm-up for the Asian Games, which will be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
