Atal Bihari Vajpayee Death Anniversary: President Murmu, PM Modi, NDA Leaders Pay Tribute To The Former Prime Minister

PM Modi and NDA leaders paid respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the anniversary of his passing at Sadaiv Atal’s monument.

On the fifth anniversary of his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and NDA leaders paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal’s monument.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Amit Shah, Praful Patel, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister and Apna Dal (Soneylal) leader Anupriya Patel, and HAM’s Jitan Ram Manjhi also paid tribute. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s foster daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya also paid floral homage at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ on the anniversary of his death.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi stated that Vajpayee’s leadership benefited the country enormously.

“I join India’s 140 crore people in paying tribute to the remarkable Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi.” His leadership was extremely beneficial to India. He performed a critical role in propelling our country forward and ushering it into the twenty-first century in a variety of fields,” he wrote on X.

In 1924, Vajpayee was born in Gwalior. He was the BJP’s face for decades and the first non-Congress prime minister to complete a full term in office.

Vajpayee was India’s Prime Minister from May 16, 1996, to June 1, 1996, and again from March 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004. From 1977 to 1979, he was India’s External Affairs Minister in Prime Minister Moraji Desai’s government. On August 16, 2018, he died at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.

After taking office in 2014, PM Modi stated that the 25th of December, his birth day, will be observed as Good Governance Day every year in order to remember the previous Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient.
