Three youths had already been set go. They wore apparel that was purchased at the café. The three of them had apparent emotion.

On Saturday morning, police and emergency services are present in Ede. At closing time, a man allegedly entered the establishment armed with explosives and made threats to blow the place up. Whether the hostage crisis has concluded is yet unknown.

The party café’s proprietor had earlier told De Telegraaf that his staff members were being held captive. The owner stated that there was no disagreement with the other parties. He does not want to say anything more for his employees’ safety because he is so angry about the circumstances.

Are there any explosives?

The police claim to have identified one hostage-taker, but they will not discuss conversations with him. The police spokesperson is also unable to comment on potential explosives. “That might be detrimental to everyone’s safety.”

There’s no sign of a terrorist motive, according to the Gelderland police.

Impact and actions taken by Police in Cafe Hostage in Netherlands

Over 150 residences have now been evacuated. Trains between Barneveld-Zuid and Ede-Wageningen have been suspended because of the police presence. Special teams and a mobile unit have been sent. Additionally, a negotiator has been sent in.

Petticoat is a café that mainly attracts youth. Regarding the café, only positive feedback is received. On Friday night, there was another 16+ event with Dutch and Techno music. At 4 a.m., that ended.

A neighbour woman and her son, who is acquainted with Petticoat, remark, “It is not a pub that gives rise to this.”

Around six o’clock, the police got a report that they took very seriously. The police, fire department, and ambulances showed up in large numbers. Large screens surround the catering facility. The catering company was officially closed, so the only people there were likely staff.

In addition to setting up multiple cordons, the police have been deployed in the middle of the Gelderland municipality, offering a range of specialist services.
