Day 4 of the Parliament Special Session: Following approval by the Lok Sabha, the women’s reservation bill will be debated in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. The Lok Sabha will debate Chandrayaan-3 today.
The Rajya Sabha will debate the women’s reservation bill on Thursday, the main focus of the Parliament’s special session. The measure was passed with 454 votes a day ago in the Lok Sabha, which is due to debate Chandrayaan-3 today.
The historic bill, also known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, will be debated in the upper chamber before being passed. The bill would need the backing of a special majority here to pass.
Aside from that, the law will need to be approved by half of the state legislatures. First, the Bill must be passed by a special majority in both houses of Parliament. The Constitution Amendment Bill will next require ratification by at least 50% of the states, according to Article 368 requirements. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has issued a three-line whip to its Rajya Sabha MPs in favour of the measure, requesting that they be present in the upper house on Thursday. The bill’s passing requires the backing of all party MPs.
Other legislation and papers will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha today.
The Central Government will introduce the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday in order to abolish certain enactments and correct a minor wording error in the Factoring Regulation Act, 2011.
According to the Business list, Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023, which was enacted in the Lok Sabha in July of this year.
The Bill is now being debated in the Rajya Sabha.
The Minister will introduce the Bill before the Upper House for consideration and passage.
The Bill proposes to remove 65 laws that are either obsolete or have been rendered obsolete by other laws. It also fixes a minor drafting error in the 2011 Factoring Regulation Act.

The Post Office Bill, 2023, is due to be introduced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The bill will consolidate and reform the law governing the Post Office in India, as well as provide for items related to or incidental to the Post Office.
