The Harley-Davidson X440 is powered by a brand-new 440cc oil-cooled, long-stroke BSVI (OBD II) and E20-compliant engine developed by Hero MotoCorp. “The engine punches a best-in-class power output of 27 bhp as well as a best-in-class maximum torque of 38NM,” the firm stated, adding that the motorbike has an unusually flat torque curve, producing 90% of its peak torque as low as 2000rpm.
To provide precise control, the engine includes an assist and slipper clutch. According to the firm, the 6-speed gearbox with optimized gearing enables both highway driving and pleasant city travel.
“The launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 is an important turning point in our premium journey and lays a strong foundation for our future growth,” Munjal added. The motorbike combines the best of Harley-Davidson’s famous hallmark components with Hero’s manufacturing knowledge and trusted quality.”
Munjal went on to say that Hero and Harley-Davidson intend to develop a unique value proposition for customers in the Indian market and to appeal to a broader variety of motorcycle fans.
According to Harley-Davidson’s Jochen Zeitz, the X440 signals the beginning of a new chapter for the American motorcycle maker in India. “We are very excited to be launching our first innovation as part of our partnership with Hero MotoCorp,” Zeitz stated.
