The left-arm quick, who last played for India earlier this year, had been warming the bench since the IPL 2025 ended in June. Fans and experts had been scratching their heads over his absence, especially since Arshdeep remains one of India’s most consistent wicket-takers in limited-overs cricket.

Fresh Bowling Combo Against Oman

India, already through to the Super 4, decided to shuffle things up against Oman. Jasprit Bumrah was rested, paving the way for Arshdeep. Alongside him, Harshit Rana also got a nod, making his Asia Cup debut, as he replaced Varun Chakravarthy.

That meant India went into the game with this XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav.

SKY’s Funny Toss Moment

Captain Suryakumar Yadav had fans laughing at the toss when he completely blanked on Arshdeep’s name. While trying to announce the two changes, he remembered Harshit Rana but hilariously forgot the second. After fumbling, SKY laughed it off, saying he had “caught Rohit Sharma’s virus of forgetting names at the toss.”

His lighthearted moment instantly went viral, showing the relaxed mood in the Indian camp as they head into the Super 4.

Fans Finally Get What They Wanted

Arshdeep’s absence from the first two matches had raised plenty of eyebrows. Even Ravichandran Ashwin had voiced his frustration after India’s opener against UAE, questioning why such a reliable bowler wasn’t being picked.

Now that he’s finally back in action, all eyes will be on Arshdeep to see if he can deliver the breakthroughs India expect from him.
