What we do know is that the fifth film: In the series will be a direct sequel to the second installment. Insidious: Chapter 3, Insidious: The Last Key, Insidious, Insidious: Chapter 2, and Insidious: The Red Door are currently on the franchise’s chronology.
According to Sony, Insidious: The Red Door will be the “final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga.” This may be the end of the saga, but horror aficionados know to take such rumors with a grain of salt, especially since The Fifth Key revealed Elise’s psychic niece. Scream, Halloween, and Evil Dead are all examples of terrifying series that have returned.Â
The Lamberts all return in Insidious: The Red Door, with Patrick Wilson not only repeating his role as Josh but also taking over as director. Son Dalton (played once more by Ty Simpkins, now a lovely young man) goes off to college, ostensibly majoring in art and channeling whatever distressing events from his past he can recall into his paintings.

According to the teaser and IMDb cast list, Tucker and Specs will not be returning, and while Lin Shaye will be returning, Elise’s involvement will most likely be restricted considering that she has been dead for 10 years in the timeline.Â
Nonetheless, if this series has taught us anything, it’s that there’s a lot of living to be done after you die!
