Mahindra’s EV lineup just scored a massive win
Mahindra is riding high in the EV game. The company just announced it has sold over 30,000 units of its all-electric BE 6 and XEV 9e models combined — a huge milestone for the automaker’s Born Electric range.
This figure was revealed during Mahindra’s Q2 FY2026 earnings report on November 4. And for a lineup that only began deliveries in March this year, the achievement speaks volumes about how quickly Indian buyers are warming up to Mahindra’s new-age EVs.
XEV 9e takes the lead over BE 6
When Mahindra launched both the BE 6 and XEV 9e, many expected the smaller and more affordable BE 6 to outsell its larger sibling. But the reality turned out different.
Sales data shows the XEV 9e, with its coupe-style design and spacious interior, has become the more popular choice among EV buyers. Meanwhile, the BE 6’s compact size and snug cabin may have held it back a little — despite its lower price tag.
It’s clear that Indian customers prefer SUVs that look bold and feel roomy, and the XEV 9e nails both.

Strong specs and serious range
Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are built from the ground up as pure EVs — not reworked ICE models. The BE 6 comes with two battery options:
- 59 kWh (Standard Range) – 228 hp, 380 Nm torque, range of up to 557 km
- 79 kWh (Long Range) – 282 hp, 380 Nm torque, range of up to 683 km, 0–100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds
The XEV 9e packs the same powertrains but offers slightly less range due to its bigger body:
- Base variant: 542 km
- Top variant: 656 km, 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds
Not bad for SUVs that combine strong acceleration, premium interiors, and head-turning design.
Next up: Mahindra XEV 9S coming November 27
Mahindra isn’t slowing down. On November 27, just a day after the BE 6 and XEV 9e mark their first anniversary, the automaker will introduce the XEV 9S — a seven-seat EV designed to be the family-friendly sibling of the XEV 9e.
It’s expected to carry over the same electric platform and powertrain but offer more space, practicality, and comfort. The XEV 9S will also resemble the popular XUV700 in proportions, appealing to buyers looking for a familiar yet futuristic Mahindra experience.

What this means for India’s EV market
Mahindra’s 30,000-unit milestone shows the brand’s electric vision is resonating with Indian consumers. The company’s aggressive EV roadmap — with the BE and XEV lineups leading the charge — positions it as a serious rival to Tata Motors, Hyundai, and MG in the fast-growing electric SUV space.
With the XEV 9S launch just weeks away, Mahindra seems ready to make 2025 the year it truly dominates the Indian EV landscape.
