Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in a star-studded field at the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League on Saturday, according to media reports.
His 5th attempt of 87.66m increased his lead over the competition, with Julian Weber of Germany managing just 87.03m on the last attempt, according to Mid-Day.
Chopra began his first try in Lausanne with a foul throw, not a great start to his campaign. He recorded his first legal throw on the second try at 83.52m, however, he finished third behind Julian Weber (86.20m) and Jakub Vadlejch (84.71m).
The 25-year-old Indian superstar had a perfect start to the Diamond League season, finishing on the top podium in Doha on May 5 with a fourth career-best throw of 88.67m but sustained a muscular strain later that month while practicing.
