Last year, Mahindra revealed the electric versions of Scorpio and Thar at a show held in South Africa. The focus at this show was on these two electric SUVs.
After the arrival of the 5-door version, the electric version of Thar will also be brought in. The company hasn’t given any information about launching it in India yet, but there’s a lot of buzz about it in the press. Mahindra will definitely launch Thar Electric in India. It’s rumored to have a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. There will also be an option for a larger battery pack that can provide even more range, although exact details haven’t been revealed yet.
The new Mahindra Thar Electric is quite special. It may come with two battery pack options: a 60-kilowatt-hour version and an 80-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. It will also have a strong and powerful electric motor to maintain its off-roading capabilities.
An SUV will be built on a new platform. Apart from that, Mahindra is developing its new electric SUV in Indore on the INGLO platform. This platform is specifically designed for electric vehicles, providing good ground clearance and off-roading capabilities, making it suitable for rugged SUV use.
Features of Mahindra Electric SUV
After launching the Mahindra XUV 700, it was announced that it would offer good features at a budget price. These same features will be upgraded and brought into the Mahindra Thar Electric. This car will be based on modern technology and is being crafted with a lot of effort.
As basic features, it will include a digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, and many other new features. The Mahindra Thar.e is an electric SUV that may have the following features:
Battery: A 75kWh battery pack and a dual-electric motor setup
Drive: 4WD (4-wheel drive) as standard
Interior: A minimalistic dashboard design, large touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, and a new steering wheel
Other features: A water hose to clean the cabin after off-roading, a flat dashboard, grab handles, and a three-spoke steering wheel.
The Mahindra Thar E concept was unveiled on August 15, 2023 at Mahindra’s annual gathering in South Africa. CarDekho estimates that the Mahindra Thar E will launch on August 15, 2026. The Thar E is a five-door electric SUV with an expected price of ₹25 lakh in India.
