The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 is back with another exciting season of T20 cricket, bringing together some of Delhi’s biggest domestic stars and promising young talents. The third edition of the tournament got underway on July 31 with Central Delhi Kings taking on Purani Dilli 6 at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The final is scheduled to be played on August 30.

Delhi Premier League 2026 Format Explained
The tournament follows a straightforward T20 league format. All eight franchises will compete in the league stage before the top four teams qualify for the playoffs.
The top two teams after the league phase will face each other in Qualifier 1 on August 26, with the winner booking a direct place in the final. The teams finishing third and fourth will meet in the Eliminator on the same day.
The loser of Qualifier 1 will then face the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2 on August 28, while the winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 will battle for the championship in the final on August 30.
Every match of the tournament will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, giving fans a consistent venue throughout the competition.

Defending Champions Return to Protect Their Crown
The West Delhi Lions enter the tournament as defending champions after defeating Central Delhi Kings in the 2025 final. Meanwhile, East Delhi Riders, winners of the inaugural 2024 edition, will also be among the strongest contenders.
With experienced IPL campaigners mixed alongside emerging Delhi cricketers, the competition is expected to provide another platform for future stars to shine.
