Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with important US figures from many walks of life on Tuesday, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who stated that India has more promise than any other huge country and that he is ecstatic about its future. 

Musk told reporters after meeting Modi that his social media company, Twitter, has no choice but to obey the local government. When questioned about the company’s former owner and CEO Jack Dorsey’s recent claim against the Indian government, he answered, “Or it will be shut down.”

” Modi is in the United States from June 21 to 24, at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, where he will meet with over two dozen thought leaders from various fields, including Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians, and health sector experts.

They include astrophysicist and novelist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Nobel laureate economist Paul Romer, author Nicholas Nassim Taleb, and investor Ray Dalio, in addition to Musk. Prime Minister Modi met with some of them one-on-one, while others met with him in groups. 

“I praised India for its response to Covid and how India has very efficiently dealt with it,” Taleb remarked after meeting Modi. “I talked to the prime minister about risk-taking and anti-fragility.”

“Professor @nntaleb has interesting perspectives on a variety of issues, and I had the opportunity to hear them on a few of them.” He was fascinated by India’s rapid progress. “I emphasized how we are instilling in our youth a spirit of enterprise and risk-taking,” Modi tweeted.

I urged him to increase his investments in India and also discussed our government’s reform agenda.” Tyson also commended Modi in a video message, saying the sky is not the limit for him and described the prime leader as “scientifically thoughtful.”

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), tweeted on Modi’s meeting with Romer, saying, “A fascinating exchange of views between PM @narendramodi and eminent economist and Nobel laureate Prof @paulmromer.” “Discussions focused on India’s digital journey, including the use of Aadhar and cutting-edge tools like Digilocker.” “Discussions also included various initiatives implemented by India for urban development,” he tweeted.

On Twitter, the prime minister said, “Glad that we met the noted economist and Nobel laureate, Professor @paulmromer.” We held lengthy discussions on how to use technology to enhance people’s lives. We also discussed how to make our cities more sustainable and people-friendly.” 

Modi tweeted about his meeting with novelist Robert AF Thurman, saying, “The interaction with @BobThurman was outstanding.” I applaud his dedication to Buddhist-related study and knowledge. I emphasized India’s Buddhist past and how Buddhism may assist our globe solve many issues.” The MEA official said in a tweet on the prime minister’s meeting with astrophysicist Tyson, “Catalysing India-US space collaboration!”

According to the MEA spokeswoman, the prime minister also underlined the possibilities for academic collaboration and business involvement in the space industry between India and the US under India’s National Space Policy. 

Modi will also observe the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations headquarters in New York, together with UN officials and representatives of the international community. Over 188 countries’ representatives are anticipated to participate in the exercise. 

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome Modi at a State Dinner on June 22. On June 22, the prime minister will address a joint session of the United States Congress.
