Election Results 2022: The AAP has won 132 seats in the 250-member MCD local body, significantly ahead of the BJP’s 104.
The AAP has won the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls, ousting the BJP from office after 15 years. The party led by Arvind Kejriwal has promised to improve civic services. Despite exit polls forecasting a loss, the BJP took satisfaction in gaining over a hundred wards.
The AAP gained 132 seats in the 250-member civic body, well past the halfway point, compared to the BJP’s 104. Congress was victorious in nine wards.

Mr Kejriwal told supporters at the party office in Delhi that he would attempt to live up to people’s expectations and asked all parties to work together to enhance the city.
“We need the collaboration of the BJP, the Congress, and the blessings of the Centre and the Prime Minister to improve the state of Delhi,” he remarked.

The AAP wins the first elections following delimitation.
This was the first civic election following the new delimitation process. From 2012 to 2022, Delhi had 272 wards and three corporations – NDMC, SDMC, and EDMC – that were later reunified into an MCD that had formally come into existence on May 22.
