In an exclusive chat with HT City, Priyanka and Cena opened up about the film, the never-ending OTT vs theatres debate, and why Indian fans hold a special place in their hearts.

Why ‘Heads of State’ Was a No-Brainer

Priyanka plays an MI6 agent tasked with babysitting two feuding world leaders (played by Cena and Idris Elba) in this fast-paced thriller. So, what made her say yes?

“I loved Ilya Naishuller’s previous films, and the script had me laughing out loud,” she says. “Plus, my character gets to boss around these powerful men—how could I resist?”

For Cena, it was even simpler: “I just asked myself, ‘What’s gonna go right?’ And everything did. The energy on set was incredible.”

With Heads of State dropping directly on Prime Video, the debate about streaming versus theatres is back in the spotlight. But Priyanka isn’t worried.

“They’re two different experiences,” she explains. “Streaming has opened doors for diverse talent, but the magic of watching a film in theatres—that collective excitement—isn’t going anywhere.”

Cena, a WWE legend turned Hollywood star, has a massive fanbase in India. So, any plans to work in Bollywood?

“I just haven’t gotten that offer yet!” he laughs. “But I’ve known about India’s passion for WWE for over 20 years. I wouldn’t be here without that love.”
