It’s the 94th birthday of Lata Mangeshkar. If a biopic on the late legendary singer is in the works, one actor has already expressed interest. That’s Shraddha Kapoor, who is Lata’s granddaughter.

Shraddha expressed an interest in playing Lata.

When asked who she’d like to play in a biopic at a fan gathering, Shraddha said, “I would also like to say Lata Mangeshkar.” “I mean, it’s a lofty goal, but you never know.”

It is a “big aim,” but not a particularly lofty one, considering Shraddha is tied to Lata Mangeshkar. She was also interested in singing and had a close relationship with the singer until he died last year.

Here’s how Shraddha and Lata are related.

Shraddha’s maternal grandfather, Pandit Pandharinath Kolhapure, is the first cousin of Lata and her singer-sister Asha Bhosle. Lata’s nieces are Shraddha’s mother Shivangi Kolahpure and her actor-sister Padmini Kolahpure.

Lata has famously sang several unforgettable Padmini songs, like Yeh Galiyan Ye Chaubara from Raj Kapoor’s 1982 love film Prem Rog. Asha has also sang iconic Padmini songs such as Poochho Na Yaar Kya Hua from Nasir Hussain’s 1981 musical Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai. Interestingly, Asha made her acting debut in Mahesh Kodiyal’s 2013 film Mai, playing Padmini’s mother.

That means Shraddha’s father, famous actor Shakti Kapoor, is also related to Lata Mangeshkar! Allow that to soak in for a moment.

Shraddha has been known to spend time with Lata throughout the years in order to learn how to sing from her. Galliyan in Mohit Suri’s 2014 action thriller Ek Villain, Sab Tera in Sabbir Khan’s 2015 action thriller Baaghi, Do Jahaan in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2014 film Haider, Tere Mere Dil in Shujaat Saudagar’s 2016 musical Rock On 2, and Phir Bhi Tumko Chahungi in Mohit Suri’s 2017 romantic film Half Girlfriend are among the songs she has sung.

Shraddha will next be seen in Stree 2, Amar Kaushik’s horror comedy and the follow-up to their 2018 box office success.
