Who Actually Receives the Prize Money?
Although players celebrate the victory on the pitch, FIFA does not transfer prize money directly to them.
Instead, the money is awarded to each country’s football association or federation, which decides how much is shared among players, coaches and support staff.
The remaining funds are generally invested in football development, youth programmes, infrastructure and grassroots initiatives.
Several national associations also have their own bonus agreements with players, meaning the final payouts can vary from country to country.
