The recall applies to select Honda Pilot, Accord, Civic sedan, HR-V, and Odyssey vehicles from the 2020 to 2022 model years, as well as the 2020 Fit and Civic Coupe. The 2021 and 2022 Civic hatchbacks, 2021 Civic Type R and Insight, as well as the 2020 and 2021 CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, Passport, Ridgeline, and Accord Hybrid, are also included.

The Acura luxury brand’s affected vehicles include the 2020 and 2022 MDX, 2020 through 2022 RDX, and 2020 and 2021 TLX.

According to documents issued by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday, the front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, preventing the air bag from being turned off as planned. When children or tiny people are in the seats, the sensors must disengage the airbags. If this does not happen, there is an increased risk of damage.

Dealers will replace the seat sensors at no cost to the owner. Owners will be contacted beginning March 18.

According to papers, Honda received 3,834 warranty claims but received no reports of injuries or deaths from the condition between June 30, 2020 and January 19, this year.
