Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Jalpaiguri on Sunday night after postponing her planned events. The storm also caused damage to several houses.

According to the media, Mamata Banerjee stated the storm resulted in five deaths, and two persons are in critical condition. Further, many houses were damaged too.

She adds, “Right now, the administration is offering the support that’s required to support the victims. The biggest damage that has occurred is the people’s death”. Further, she expressed her gratitude to the administration for their efforts in disaster management. The hospital staff, including the physicians and nurses, is doing a great job.

It was reported that Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital admitted up to 170 injured patients. About 200 people were sent to the Maynaguri Hospital, and another 100 got treatment at the Barnesh Health Center.

There were no reported casualties despite similar storms hitting other areas of the nearby districts of Aliupurduar and Cooch Behar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the deaths caused by the storm. Modi claimed to have met with officials and asked them to make sure individuals impacted by it receive the necessary support.
